Concepts

The words LaunchGenius uses for a launch, a commitment, a cohort, an announcement and the two ways a post goes out, defined once.

This page defines the terms the rest of the product and this site use. If a sentence somewhere else assumed you knew one of these, it is here.

Workspace

A company account. It owns launches, contacts, media and the subscription. People in it are owners, admins or members.

Launch

One coordinated posting event: a moment, an announcement, a roster of people, and their posts. A launch moves through draft, scheduled, live and completed, or it is cancelled.

There are two kinds. A campaign is the coordinated sort, with other people on it. A post is a launch of one: your own scheduled post, with no roster. A post can be turned into a campaign later without being rewritten.

T-0

The launch moment. Every post's time is written as an offset from it, so moving T-0 moves the whole plan and nothing has to be rescheduled by hand.

Launch announcement

The post that announces the launch, one per platform. Also called the anchor, because everything attached to the launch attaches to it: a reply lands under it, a Repost carries it, a comment answers it.

A campaign cannot be scheduled without one.

Commitment

One person's one post, on one platform, at one time. It is the unit everything else is made of, and it is what moves through review and out to a platform.

Participant

Somebody on a launch's roster. They joined through a link with an email address, and they do not need a paid account or a password.

Cohort

A label on a participant that groups the roster and suggests when that group posts. The built-in labels carry a wave:

Cohort Usual wave
Team 2–30 minutes after T-0
Collaborator 10 minutes to 1 hour after T-0
Guest 15 minutes to 2 hours after T-0
Customer 30 minutes to 3 hours after T-0
Advocate 30 minutes to 3 hours after T-0
Creator 1–24 hours after T-0
Investor 2–6 hours after T-0
Partner 2–6 hours after T-0

You can create labels of your own, which group people without carrying any timing. A cohort is never a permission.

The kinds of post

Name What it is
Testimonial An original post in your own words about the launch. The most valuable kind of support.
Repost Reposts the launch announcement with your commentary on top (a quote post on X).
Reply A reply under the launch announcement to boost the conversation.
Boost Reposts the launch announcement as-is to your followers. No writing needed.

A Repost carries your words on top of the announcement. A Boost carries the announcement alone. That is the whole difference, and it is why they have different names.

Lanes

How a post goes out.

Automatic means LaunchGenius publishes it through the platform's API at the scheduled time, with nobody present. It needs a connected account.

Assisted means the author gets a message at the scheduled time with the post ready to paste and the announcement attached, and publishes it themselves. It needs nothing. See posting by hand.

Which of the two a post takes is decided by the platform and the kind of post, not by a preference. Each integration page lists its own split.

Scheduling

Making a launch live is called arming. It is checked first: there must be an announcement, T-0 must be far enough out, and the plan must cover the launch.

It is reversible. Holding a launch returns every unpublished post to approved and the launch to draft, with nothing lost.

Scheduling is the only paid step in the product. Everything before it, on any number of launches, is free.

Rehearsal

The default for a new launch. Everything runs end to end, states move, reports fill in, and nothing reaches any platform.

Company account

A connected social account marked as the workspace's own. Any member can publish from it, inside that workspace's launches only. Personal accounts stay with the person who connected them.
