## What publishes automatically

One kind of post goes here: the testimonial. It publishes automatically at the scheduled time.

Every TikTok post is a video. Attach the file to the card and it uploads ahead
of time and publishes at the scheduled moment.

## Two ways a post can go out

**Directly.** The video publishes at the scheduled moment with the settings on
the card, and nobody has to be awake for it.

**To your TikTok drafts.** At the scheduled moment the video is uploaded to
your TikTok inbox instead. TikTok notifies you in the app; you finish the post
in TikTok's own composer — caption, sounds, effects, visibility — and then
confirm the posted link back here so the launch can count it and read its
numbers. Pick this when you want TikTok's editing tools on the final post, or
when the account owner wants the last word on anything that goes out.

Draft uploads need a permission that older connections don't carry, so the
option asks you to reconnect the account once before the first use.

## Per-post settings

For direct posts, TikTok requires the poster to choose a few things per video,
so the card carries them rather than burying them in workspace defaults: who
can see it, and whether comments, duets and stitches are allowed. Whatever
your account permits is what the card offers.

For draft uploads there is nothing to set here. TikTok's own composer asks
for all of it when you finish the post.

## Limits

Captions run to 2,000 characters.

## Numbers

Posts on TikTok are measured 30 times: about an hour, a day and a week after publishing.

## A note on retries

TikTok treats the start of an upload as the intent to publish, so once a video
has been handed over there is no way to ask whether it became public. If a post
times out, LaunchGenius never retries it automatically. It is marked for a
person to check instead.

That is deliberate and it is the safest reading of an ambiguous result: a
duplicate video on your profile is worse than a post that needs one look.

Draft uploads are different: nothing becomes public until you act in the app,
so a timed-out upload is retried safely. The worst case is a duplicate draft
in your inbox, which you can ignore.

## What you connect

Connecting asks TikTok for your basic profile, permission to publish videos on
your instruction, and permission to list your own posts so their numbers can be read.
